Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Thuringia are the regional association of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party in Thuringia .

history

Katrin Göring-Eckardt (2013), member of the Thuringian Greens in the Bundestag

From 1990 to 1994 the Greens were represented in parliamentary groups in Thuringia . From 1994 to 2009 the party did not have any members in the Thuringian state parliament. From 1995 to 1998 and 2002 to 2007 Katrin Göring-Eckardt was one of the two state chairmen of the Thuringian alliance greens. From 2002 to 2005 she was also the parliamentary group leader of the Bundestag parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen for the first time . In the state elections in Thuringia in 2004 , the Greens under the leadership of top candidate Astrid Rothe-Beinlich , as well as in the state elections in Thuringia in 1994 , failed comparatively close to the five percent hurdle with 4.5% .

It was not until 2009 , with Rothe-Beinlich and Dirk Adams as the top candidates, that they entered the state parliament of Thuringia. In the run-up to the election, there was cooperation with the Pirate Party Germany . The Greens and Pirates published a paper describing the common goals of both parties. The Pirate Party did not subsequently run for the state election. Anja Siegesmund took over the chairmanship of the parliamentary group and Rothe-Beinlich was elected vice-president of the Thuringian parliament. After the election, exploratory talks took place with Die Linke and the SPD to form a red-red-green coalition . However, since the left had won more seats than the SPD and the state SPD refused to elect the left-wing top candidate Bodo Ramelow as prime minister, the talks failed and the Greens remained in the opposition .

In the 2013 federal elections , Katrin Göring-Eckardt was elected as the top candidate of the federal party alongside Jürgen Trittin . After the election, she and Anton Hofreiter again took over the chairmanship of their party in the Bundestag. For the state elections in Thuringia in 2014 , the party elected its parliamentary group leader Anja Siegesmund at the top of the state list at the end of 2013 , followed by Dirk Adams and Astrid Rothe-Beinlich. Despite a slight loss of votes, the party was able to remain with six seats in the state parliament. As a result of the election, the first nationwide red-red-green coalition was formed in Thuringia under the leadership of the left-wing Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow , which means that the Greens have been involved in a Thuringian state government for the first time since December 2014. The Ramelow I cabinet includes Anja Siegesmund as Thuringian Minister for Environment, Energy and Nature Conservation and Dieter Lauinger as Thuringian Minister for Migration, Justice and Consumer Protection .

fraction

Christine Grabe (1990), first chairwoman of the green parliamentary group in Thuringia

The first parliamentary group was a political alliance of the three members of the Greens Christine Grabe , Olaf Möller and Ralf Päsler , the two members of the New Forum Siegfried Geißler and Matthias Büchner and the member of Democracy Now Gerhard Vienna . Until February 11, 1992 it was called New Forum / Greens / Democracy Now (NF / GR / DJ) , from then on Alliance 90 / Greens , from April 15, 1992 Alliance 90 / Greens / New Forum and from December 22, 1992 - after the expulsion of the two Neues Forum members Siegfried Geißler and Matthias Büchner from the parliamentary group and with Jörg Pöse ( PDS ) changing to the parliamentary group - finally the name Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen .

From 1994 to 2009, the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party in Thuringia failed to get back into the state parliament - it always failed because of the five percent hurdle and therefore had no state parliamentarians.
