Madeleine Henfling (born April 11, 1983 in Ilmenau ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). From 2009 to 2011 she was state spokesperson for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Thuringia . She has been a member of the Thuringian state parliament since 2014 and vice-president since May 2020 .

Career

After graduating from high school, she studied history , African studies and Dutch linguistics at the University of Cologne and the University of Leiden from 2001 to 2008 . In 2007 she became a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and completed a trainee program in the federal association of the party the following year . For the state elections in Thuringia in 2009 , she was a direct candidate of her party in the constituency of Ilm District I , where she received 5.1 percent of the vote.

At the end of November 2009, Madeleine Henfling and Dieter Lauinger were elected to the new dual leadership of the regional association at the state party conference of the Thuringian Greens. You succeeded Astrid Rothe-Beinlich and Frank Augsten , who had not run again. Henfling, who ran unopposed, was elected with 78.9 percent of the vote. At the state delegates' conference in November 2011, Babett Pfefferlein was elected as her successor to the office of spokesperson. Since 2010 she has been a member of the district council of the Ilm district . In the local elections in 2012 she ran for the office of district administrator in the Ilm district and received 4.6 percent of the vote.

From June 2012 to January 2013 Henfling was electoral district employee of the Thuringian state parliament member Carsten Meyer . From February 2013 until her election to the Thuringian state parliament, she worked as managing director of the Thuringia State Women's Council.

In the state elections in 2014 and 2019 , Henfling was elected to be a member of the Thuringian state parliament with fifth place on the state list of their party . Since March 2020 she has been Parliamentary Managing Director of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament.

Madeleine Henfling has been Vice President of the Thuringian State Parliament since May 2020.

Henfling is the mother of three children. In August 2018, she was excluded from a session of the state parliament after she had brought her son, who was just a few weeks old, into the plenary chamber.
