The DGB district Hessen - Thuringia comprises the federal states of Hessen and Thuringia .

The DGB district sees itself as the "state political lobby of the trade unions."

The 5th district conference on December 9, 2017 elected Michael Rudolph as the new district chairman. Sandro Witt was (re) elected as deputy chairman.

The districts are the structural level of the DGB directly below the federal level (see the section Districts and Regions in the article on the DGB) and comprise one or more federal states.

The DGB district mainly serves to coordinate the member unions located in the area , or to external political representation and lobbying . It represents the social, economic, social and cultural interests of employees.
