Southern Bessarabia referred

  • generally the south of the historical region of Bessarabia (about the area south of the Trajan Wall between Dniester and Prut)
  • In particular, two historical regions in southern Bessarabia that only partially overlap:
    • Budschak , which today belongs to Ukraine
    • Cahul, Bolgrad and Ismail , which belonged to the Principality of Moldova and Romania between 1856 and 1878, respectively
