François Gourguillon

François Gourguillon (born May 3, 1928 in Paris , † November 23, 2007 ) was Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Reims .

Life

François Gourguillon first studied engineering at the Ecole d'Ingénieur in Chalons-sur-Marne and in parallel at the Seminary of Reims . He received on 17 December 1955, the sacrament of Holy Orders . In 1956 he was appointed rector of the educational institution of St-Remi de Charleville. In 1984 he switched to pastoral care; In 1986 he became head of the Charleville-Mézières division ; In 1991 he became the head of the Aiglemont Pastoral District.

In 1991 Pope John Paul II appointed Gourguillon titular bishop of Suas and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Reims . He was also appointed Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Reims. The episcopal ordination donated to him on 26 January 1992 Jean Marie Julien Cardinal Balland and the co-consecrators Archbishop Jacques-Eugène-Louis Ménager and Archbishop André Jean René Lacrampe .

He served twice between the terms of Jean Balland , Gérard Defois and Thierry Jordan as Apostolic Administrator during the vacancy of the Episcopal See.

In 2003 his resignation was granted by Pope John Paul II.
