South a

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Süda was the short form of the name Süddeutsche Nachrichtenagentur , a press agency founded by the French occupation forces together with newspaper publishers from the French occupation zone on March 4, 1947 .

description

The military government reserved a share of 51 percent in the capital of the Süda . The association of newspaper publishers in the French zone of occupation only held 49 percent.

The establishment of the Süda was preceded by long and difficult negotiations between the French military government and the newspaper publishers. It was the successor to the agency for the French zone founded in Paris under the name RHEINA (Rheinische Nachrichtenagentur) . The notarial founding contract was designed to be permanent. It ran until December 31, 2045 - i.e. 99 years - but did not last 99 weeks.

A difficult economic situation developed for the south after the currency reform in 1948 . The French government announced that the French agency shares would be transferred to the German newspaper publishers. This gave the Süda-GmbH a free hand to look for a merger with the German Press Service (dpd) of the British zone of occupation and DENA of the American zone of occupation . On August 16, 1949, representatives of the Süda and dpd in Goslar signed a contract that was to be issued to a joint intelligence service from October 1, 1949, but just one day later, the Süda, together with the DENA and the dpd, went into the new one German Press Agency (dpa).
