Südstadt (Elberfeld)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Elberfelder Südstadt is a district of the formerly independent municipality of Elberfeld , which is now part of Wuppertal .

Location

The Südstadt includes, among other things, the parts that can be found in the statistical residential district Südstadt in the Elberfeld district from 1975 , i.e. the urban areas south of the center of Elberfeld. But also the northern parts of today's residential quarters Grifflenberg and Friedrichsberg as well as the eastern part of the residential district Arrenberg are perceived as the southern part of the city.

The Südstadt is further differentiated into the "Lower Südstadt" and the "Upper Südstadt". The Lower Südstadt begins in the north south of the Wupper and extends in the south up to Blankstrasse. The administration building from 1922 in which the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Wuppertal-Solingen-Remscheid is located and the headquarters of the Stadtsparkasse Wuppertal with the Sparkasse tower is already in the area of the Lower Südstadt. The areas of the Lower Südstadt can be found from 1975 in the statistical city district of Elberfeld-Mitte . In the subdivisions of the statistical city quarters, Südstrasse and Blankstrasse are the limit.
