The Elberfeld-Mitte residential area in Wuppertal is one of six quarters in the Elberfeld district . The residential area is the historical center of the former independent city of Elberfeld .
geography
The 1.08 km² residential area is located west of the geographic center of Wuppertal. It is in the north through the streets Hofkamp , Gathe , Karlstrasse , Bergstrasse and Luisenstrasse , in the west through Briller Strasse and Tannenbergstrasse , in the south through the Düsseldorf – Elberfeld railway and its eastern continuation, the Elberfeld – Dortmund railway and in the east through Bendahler Strasse and the Wupperseitenarm at the court island. Clockwise, the northern part of Wuppertal , the Ostersbaum , Friedrich-Engels-Allee and Hesselnberg districts , the southern Elberfeld district and the Arrenberg district surround the residential area. The Wupper flows through the residential area in the valley.
In the south, the Döppersberg and the Wuppertal main train station are the city’s central traffic junction. The center of Elberfeld-Mittes, the old freedom and Elberfeld Castle , is designated as a pedestrian zone , to the west is the trendy district around Luisenstrasse .
