The Baumsche Factory is an ensemble of buildings in the Elberfeld district of Wuppertal . These are the factory buildings of the Baum Kommandit-Gesellschaft textile factory founded in 1883 . They are located on Hofaue Street , the former "main street of the German clothing industry". The building ensemble extends from the Hofaue along Bembergstrasse to the Wupper .

The part of the building on Bembergstrasse ( 51 ° 15 ′ 23.7 ″  N , 7 ° 9 ′ 13.5 ″  E ) was opened on August 5, 1992, the parts on the Hofaue ( 51 ° 15 ′ 25.5 ″  N , 7 ° 9 ′ 13.3 ″  O ) was recognized as a monument on September 17th of the same year .

history

In 1883 the company was founded by Baum Kommandit-Gesellschaft , which was one of the first to mass-produce men's and women's clothing.

The part of the building on Hofaue was erected in 1913, followed by the part on Bembergstrasse in 1923 .

After major damage from the Second World War had been repaired , the building was ready for occupancy again in 1948. The von Baum limited partnership left the Hofaue in 1965 and moved to a new company headquarters in Vohwinkel on Vohwinkeler Strasse .

The buildings on the Hofaue with a usable area of ​​around 4600 square meters have since been managed by the real estate company von Baum Anlagen & Autovermietung GmbH & Co. KG . The von Baum family continues to run the company. The building complex now houses agencies in the fields of digital, design, marketing and (visual) communication, there are consultants, lawyers and financial service providers, an IT company, online platform, Kita Concept and the private medical clearing house . The second largest cinema operator in Germany, Cineplex Deutschland GmbH , is also one of the tenants. 300 people are employed in the complex.
