The Buchenhofen residential area in Wuppertal is one of seven districts in the Elberfeld-West district .
geography
The 0.88 km² residential area through which the Wupper flows is only sparsely populated with Buchenhofen and the Hofschaft In der Rutenbeck and is largely occupied by the Buchenhofen municipal sewage treatment plant operated by the Wupperverband . Next to it, on the other side of the Wuppertal, is the Rutenbeck sewage treatment plant operated by Bayer HealthCare, and at the mouth of the Rutenbeck stream, the Rutenbeck youth farm, an educational experience facility of the city of Wuppertal. Next to the youth farm is the well-preserved half-timbered Rutenbeck,
The state roads L 74 and L 418 cut through the residential area. In addition to the sewage treatment plants, a slaughterhouse specializing in lamb is the most important business in the residential area.
In the first half of the 20th century, the Wupper was dammed in Buchenhofen in the Buchenhofen compensation pond.
etymology
The etymological origin of the old place name Buchenhofen goes back to the farm name "in den Buchen", the estate came in 1890 from Vohwinkel to Elberfeld .
