Eckbusch is a 5.3 km² residential area in the northwest of the Wuppertal district of Uellendahl-Katernberg .

High-rise estate on Eckbusch

The residential area is bounded in the west by the city limits of Wülfrath , in the northeast by Nevigeser Straße (Landesstraße 427), in the southeast by In den Birken and in the south by Steinberger Bach . In its history, the outdoor swimming pool has been threatened with closure several times, which was averted after public protests. On March 22, 1991, a support association was founded from the citizens' initiative . With the help of numerous volunteers, it was possible to reduce operating costs and thus prevent the outdoor pool from being closed. Today the Friends of the Eckbusch swimming pool has around 350 members.

Theater troupe Eckbusch

The Theater Truppe Eckbusch (TTE) was created in 1993 from parents of former pupils from the Birkenhöhe elementary school. There the first stage experience was gained in the performances of fairy tales and a comedy. In order to be able to continue to play theater even after the pupils had left elementary school, the group of the Protestant parish in the community center "Am Eckbusch" joined. In 2003 the theater group was registered as a registered association in the association register. By 2019, more than 30,000 visitors came to 25 staged comedies. The game is played in the Sonnborn community center and in the dye works in Oberbarmen. The proceeds from the performances are passed on almost exclusively as donations after deducting the expenses.
