The location arose from a farm that was mentioned in a document as early as 1602 in a list of the Reichstürkenhilfe in the lordship of Hardenberg . At that time he belonged to the Hardenberger farming community Unterste Siebeneick . The court is listed as aufm Rom on the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715. In 1815/16 the place had 26 inhabitants.

In 1832 the place belonged to the Katernberger Rotte of the rural outskirts of the parish and the city of Elberfeld . The place, categorized as an Ackerhof according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , was referred to as auf dem Rohm and at that time had two residential buildings and three agricultural buildings. At that time there were 20 people living in the village, all of whom were Protestant. At the end of the 19th century and in the early 20th century, the residential area consisted of the name Rohm on maps , and from the middle of the 20th century mainly the name Am Rohm .

The courtyard was demolished around 1970 and the living space fell into desolation. From the mid-1980s, the settlement area was developed over a large area with a new housing estate. A new street opening up the residential area was again named Am Rohm after the old farm .
