Naurathssiepen , called Siepen in the 19th century, is a court in the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal .

Location and description

The Hofschaft is located in the northwest of the city at 209  m above sea level. NHN in the middle of the Eckbusch residential area in the Uellendahl-Katernberg district near the city limits of Wülfrath .

Neighboring residential areas and towns are Eckbusch , Hugenbruch , Zum Löh , Melandersbruch , Wüstenhof , Obenaprath , Klotzbahn , Ringelbusch , Theisbruch and Hixter .

Etymology and history

Siepen is a regional name for a small Kerbtal.

On the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715, the farm is marked as Siepen . The place is marked on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Siepen and on the Prussian first survey of 1843 as im Siepen . In the course of the 20th century, the place bears the name Siepen on measuring table sheets and Naurathssiepen from the second half of the century .

In the 19th century Naurathssiepen still belonged to the Oberdüssel Honschaft in the mayor's office of Wülfrath . From 1816 to 1861 it belonged to the Elberfeld district and from 1861 to the old Mettmann district .

In 1815/16, 51 inhabitants were counted for the area around Naurathssiepen (i.e. not for the farm alone). Which according to the statistics and topography of the district of Dusseldorf as 1832 Ackergut categorized local area was considered at Siepen called and had at that time seven houses and 15 farm buildings. At that time 74 residents lived in the place, twelve of them Catholic and 62 Protestant faith.

In 1888 twelve residents lived in Naurathssiepen in one house. At that time the place was called Siepen .

With the municipal reform of 1929, the eastern part of the Oberdüssel district around Naurathssiepen was split off from Wülfrath and incorporated into the newly founded city of Wuppertal.
