history

In the 19th century Eckbusch belonged to the Honschaft and later rural community of Oberdüssel in the mayor's office of Wülfrath . From 1816 to 1861 it belonged to the Elberfeld district and from 1861 to the old Mettmann district .

The farm is on the community charter of Parzellar cadastre of the mayoralty Hardenberg of 1815/16 as Eckbusch located. In the parish dictionary for the Rhineland province from 1888, two houses with 19 inhabitants are given.

With the municipal reform of 1929, the eastern part of the Oberdüssel district around Eckbusch was split off from Wülfrath and incorporated into the newly founded city of Wuppertal.

In the 1930s, the Eckbusch outdoor pool was built in the vicinity of the Hofschaft, and an urban settlement structure with single-family houses began to develop in the area north of the courtyard. Up until the middle of the 20th century, the development condensed into a closed settlement area next to the courtyard, which was finally removed for the construction of the Eckbusch high-rise estate in the last third of the 20th century.
