Großhöfchen , also Groß Höfchen , is a farm in the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal .

Location and description

The Hofschaft is located in the northwest of the city at 178  m above sea level. NHN in the Eigenbach valley in the north of the Eckbusch residential area in the Uellendahl-Katernberg district, right on the Wülfrath city ​​limits . The railway line Wuppertal-Vohwinkel-Essen-Überruhr and the federal motorway 535 run past the village .

Neighboring residential areas and towns are Aprath Castle , Schmalterplatz , Obenaprath , Neuenhaus , Koxhof , Wüstenhof , Schmalt , Kleinhöfchen , Kohleiche , Hixter , Rosenland , Fredenhof , Jungholz , Wildenbruch and Zum Kothen . The Steinberg split, which is also adjacent, has gone off.

history

On the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715, the courtyard is marked as Im Höfg . On the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 it is shown as Höfgen and on the Prussian first survey from 1843 as a large courtyard . In the course of the 20th century, the place also bore the name Groß Höfchen on measuring table sheets .

In the 19th century, Großhöfchen belonged to the Oberdüssel community of the mayor of Wülfrath . From 1816 to 1861 it belonged to the Elberfeld district and from 1861 to the old Mettmann district .

In 1888, 15 residents lived in one house in Großhöfchen. The place is called Groß Höfchen there.

With the municipal reform of 1929, the eastern part of the Oberdüssel district around Großhöfchen was split off from Wülfrath and incorporated into the newly founded city of Wuppertal.
