The Südwestdeutsche Hundesportverband (swhv) is an amalgamation of dog sport clubs. It has over 340 associations with around 46,000 members in Baden-Württemberg and the Palatinate. The Southwest German Dog Sports Association is divided into 14 district groups. He is a member of the German Dog Sports Association (dhv), and thus in the association for the German dog industry .

In its statutes, the swhv defines the purpose of promoting dog sport and attracting young people to this sport as well as establishing appropriate associations and animal welfare, in particular the promotion of species-appropriate dog keeping.

history

The Union

In 1947 the Württembergisch-Badischer Dressageverband für Schutz- und Polizeihunde (WBDV) was founded, which was joined by Palatinate clubs shortly after it was founded. In 1972 the club was renamed the Südwestdeutscher Hundesportverband (swhv). The swhv is a purely sports-oriented association.

Memberships and umbrella organizations

In the south, the Württembergisch-Baden Dressage Association for Protection and Police Dogs merged with Rhineland-Palatinate (WBDV) and the state associations from Hesse, Bavaria and Berlin to form the Association of South German Working Dogs (VSGV). This became the Association of State Associations for German Working Dogs (VLDG), which the German Protection Dog Association (DSV) also joined.

The VLDG merged with the DVG in 1977 to form the German Dog Sports Association (dhv), with the respective member associations becoming independent members of the dhv. The DVG has been an independent association in the VDH since 2013.

Dog sports

The following dog sports are offered in the clubs:
