Atonement Cross

The atonement cross for beers is a atonement cross in beers in Saxony-Anhalt .

The sandstone cross is likely to have been made in the 13th or 14th century and could have been set up as an atonement for a crime.

The cross is 117 cm high, 71 cm wide and 17 cm thick. The foot widens a little. It is well preserved, but has a small mark on its southern arm.

The atonement cross is no longer in its original location. At first it stood on Hillige Berg ( Holy Mountain ), a small elevation on the edge of Bier. However, as houses and an allotment garden were built there, the cross was moved. Now it is right next to the through-road near the village pond.
