Sōkyū Gurentai

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sōkyū Gurentai ( Japanese: 蒼穹 紅蓮 隊 , German: "blue sky, fire-red troop"), also known as Terra Diver , is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up by the Japanese manufacturer Raizing .

Sōkyū Gurentai was later ported to Saturn and PlayStation , the former being the graphically and playfully more sophisticated variant. Since the game was never released in Europe, it is almost unknown here.

Game description

As with other vertically scrolling space shoot 'em-ups , the player controls a small spaceship and has to defend himself against all kinds of enemies. In this case you are flying over different planetary surfaces. Various smaller spaceships appear as opponents, while as boss opponents you are always given a very large spaceship. By collecting upgrades, the lasers of your own spaceship can be amplified and reproduced, so that towards the end you can cover a large part of the screen with lasers just like your opponents. If that doesn't help, there are still a limited number of smart bombs available for emergencies .

The game has a multiplayer mode in which two players compete as a team against the enemies on one screen.
