The locomotives of the SŽD series ТГМ10 (German transcription TGM 10) of the Soviet Railways (SŽD) are wide-gauge diesel locomotives with diesel-hydraulic power transmission, primarily for heavy shunting.

history

The locomotive was created as a result of the production of the SŽD series ТГМ1 , SŽD series ТГМ2 and SŽD series ТГМ3 in 1961. After diesel-hydraulic locomotives were created with the series mentioned, this series was probably intended to be a comparison machine to the one in large numbers Procure ЧМЭ3 for heavy shunting.

The prototype of the locomotive was built in 1961 in the Bryansk locomotive factory with an installed output of 1200 hp and a C'C 'wheel arrangement. The appearance of the machine differs from that of shunting locomotives and its structure is strongly based on the ЧМЭ3 . A total of four locomotives were procured from the machine.

It stayed with these four vehicles. In practice, the machine had no chance against the ЧМЭ3 . There are no further entries about these machines in the further literature. It can be assumed that they were retired early on. There is also no indication of whether vehicles have been received.

technical description

The locomotive is a box locomotive with an asymmetrically arranged driver's cab and two three-axle bogies. The diesel engine with the cooling system is located in the front extension and the battery system with the electrical equipment is in the rear extension. Access to the units behind the boxes is secured by sufficiently large doors. The stems above the diesel engine can be removed for maintenance. The porch can be entered from the driver's cab and was secured with railings around the front. In addition, there was an ascent from the front sides to the circulation.

The diesel engine was further developed from that of the SŽD series ТГМ1 with some improvements and was used in the locomotive as the PD 2 with 1200 hp at 750 min −1 . The motor drives the three-stage fluid transmission via a flexible coupling. This consists of two converters and a coupling and is mounted in the locomotive frame. The drive to the drive axles and the auxiliary gears is provided by cardan shafts.

The cooler has been arranged at the front. The locomotive also had a shunting radio.
