The locomotives of the class ТЭМ15 (German transcription TEM15) of the Soviet Railways (SŽD) are broad-gauge diesel locomotives , which were built as a further development of the previously manufactured ТЭМ2M . The 6D 49 diesel engine (delivered from the Kolomna plant ), the superstructure and the driver's cab were taken over from this series .
From 1987 the series was built at the Bryansk plant. It was originally intended for Cuba under the designation ТЭМ15K , but the largest number of locomotives went to Soviet and post-Soviet industrial companies. In 1995 the production of the 6D 49 diesel engine at the Kolomna plant was stopped, which meant the end of the ТЭМ15 series .
