S'Estany d'en Mas ('pond of the country house') describes a bay and a settlement named after it on the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca . Both are also known under the name of Cala Romàntica ('Romantic Bay'). S'Estany d'en Mas is located in the southeast of the municipality of Manacor between the towns of Porto Cristo and Cales de Mallorca . The name goes back to the Son Mas de la Marina estate and a pond that is mostly dry behind the bay. This is where the Torrent des Morts , which recently merged with the Torrent de Can Llunes , flows into the sea.
Location and description
The Cala Romàntica is the central point of the strongly touristy town of S'Estany d'en Mas, very easily accessible via a car park or short footpaths and even has a landing stage for glass-bottom boats that is frequented several times a day.
The beach only slopes gently into the sea. While there are already houses from the holiday resort S'Estany d'en Mas on the north side of the beach, the south side drops steeply into the sea over an approx. 20 - 30 m high rock face.
