SAP Cloud Platform is a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offer from SAP , which provides services for the development, integration and subsequent operation of cloud applications and customer-specific extensions of cloud and on-premise landscapes.

On the one hand, SAP Cloud Platform provides several “open” technologies, such as B. Java , server-side JavaScript or HTML5 ready. On the other hand, the open solution is linked to the in-memory database platform SAP HANA, which provides companies with a large number of database and application services as well as mobile services in the cloud. The PaaS offer offers a development platform and runtime environment for customer-specific extensions of the cloud and on-premise landscapes. New and existing solutions can be integrated, regardless of whether they are SAP or non-SAP products.
To support open systems and open source software in the cloud, SAP has released the beta version of SAP Cloud Platform, the starter edition for cloud foundry services. The beta version supports various Cloud Foundry buildpacks and services, including Java , Node.js , HTML5 , MongoDB , Redis , PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ . The services made available via the SAP Cloud Platform Cockpit help developers to create new and innovative applications based on Cloud Foundry that run on the SAP Cloud Platform.
In February 2017, Apple and SAP announced a partnership. SAP and Apple are planning the development of a new iOS Software Development Kit (SDK) based on the SAP Cloud Platform, which enables users to efficiently create their own native iOS apps for iPhone and iPad based on the SAP Cloud Platform.
history
SAP Cloud Platform was initially presented at the SAP TechEd 2012 developer conference under the name SAP NetWeaver Cloud as part of the SAP HANA Cloud portfolio on October 16, 2012. On May 13, 2013, the cloud platform was then revised with the new name SAP HANA Cloud Platform as the central basis for all cloud solutions from SAP.
On February 27, 2017, SAP HANA Cloud Platform with new extensions and additional functions was presented at the Mobile World Congress with the changed name SAP Cloud Platform.
