The SC Burgdorf is a Swiss football club from the city of Burgdorf .

history

On May 20, 1898, some technicians at the Hotel Bären in Burgdorf founded FC Burgdorf. In 1907 a second club, FC Fortuna, later FC Waldeck, was founded in Burgdorf. The Burgdorf Sports Club was born on August 28, 1926 when FC Burgdorf and FC Waldeck merged. The newly formed club quickly developed into the largest in the city and in 1951 it was promoted to the first division .

The sporting high point in the club's history was November 24, 1963, when the Burgdorfers played at home in the second round of the Cup in front of 5200 spectators against the Grasshopper Club Zurich . The game was lost 1: 2.

After a lot of athletic ups and downs in the 1st team, promotion to the National League B followed in 1989/1990 . Then, in just 8 years, the NLB free fall into the 3rd division (seventh highest division). Since then, the 1st team has been playing alternately in either the 2nd or 3rd league.

Two Swiss national players emerged from the ranks of the Burgdorf sports club , Fritz Morf and Ulrich Wegmann .

Stadion

In the early days, the shooting range was played on. In 1953 the Neumatt Stadium was inaugurated, where SC Burgdorf got its own stadium with 350 seats and 3,500 standing places.
