The SG Dynamo Halle-Neustadt (previously SV Deutsche Volkspolizei Halle and SG Dynamo Halle ) was a sports club of the Dynamo sports association in Halle-Neustadt . The sports community focused on fencing and handball .

Handball

The men's handball team of the SG Dynamo Halle-Neustadt or the SV Deutsche Volkspolizei Halle or the SG Dynamo Halle played for many years in field handball as well as in indoor handball, for example in the handball league of the GDR . In the early 1950s, the club was a top club in handball in the GDR. The SV Deutsche Volkspolizei Halle was able to win the championship title twice in indoor handball (1951 and 1952) and once in field handball (1952). In 1953 the team was runner-up in field handball. In the summer the SV Deutsche Volkspolizei Halle was renamed SG Dynamo Halle. The SG Dynamo Halle was able to follow up on the successes and was runner-up in field handball twice, in 1954 and 1955.

In the 1960s, the handball team became more and more an elevator team between first and second class. In 1972/73 the SG Dynamo Halle was renamed SG Dynamo Halle-Neustadt. The greatest success of the handball team as SG Dynamo Halle-Neustadt was winning the FDGB Cup , the handball cup of the GDR in 1974. In the 1980s, the SG managed to assert itself in the league. In 1990 the club withdrew from the league. The SG Dynamo was dissolved.
