The SHG clinics Völklingen are a hospital in the Saarland city of Völklingen .
history
The clinic in Völklingen was initially a factory hospital of the Völklinger Hütte and was later expanded into a general hospital (referred to as the Hüttenkrankenhaus). In 1965 the sponsorship was transferred to the district of Saarbrücken , and later to the Stadtverband Saarbrücken , the district's legal successor. In 1990 the hospital was privatized with the transition to the non-profit Saarland-Heilstätten GmbH.
Since 1965 the hospital has been specializing and expanding. From the general internal medicine which was Cardiology separated. The Heart Center Völklingen was founded on April 1, 1991. At the decision of the sponsor, the Völklingen Heart Center was renamed the Saar Heart Center in 2006, in order to express the national character of the institution in the name given.

Heart Center Saar
The Heart Center Saar consists of the Medical Clinic I with a focus on cardiology , angiology and internal intensive care medicine, the Clinic for Cardiac , Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, both of which are located in Völklingen , and the Specialist Clinic for Early Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation in Quiigart . The center has a regional catchment area with the Saarland, a supra-regional catchment area with Rhineland-Palatinate and, to a lesser extent, France and Luxembourg . All diagnostic and therapeutic options for adult cardiology are available; except for the heart transplant. Every year around 9,000 inpatients and around 3,000 outpatients are treated. The annual rate of increase in services and sales has averaged 3 to 4% since the heart center was founded.
