SN 1994D was a supernova of type Ia , which on 7 March 1994 in the galaxy NGC 4526 lit. She was discovered by RR Treffers, AV Filippenko, SD Van Dyk and MW Richmond. SN 1994D had an apparent magnitude of 15.2 mag when it was discovered . Later the supernova reached a maximum brightness of 11.8 mag. The star was 50 million light-years from Earth, which means it had exploded 50 million years earlier when the 1994 event was observed from Earth orbit.
