Player on the right in SPD position

As a SPD-position ( " s shoot down, p ate, d frog pond", engl. Triple Threat position ) is the start position of a player in possession of the ball at the basketball designated. In this position it is easier to perform one of the three options through a deep and stable posture.

advantage

In the SPD position, the player has the greatest number of opportunities to act with the ball on the field, as he has not yet started dribbling and can therefore pass his opponent with a quick first step. In addition, he has the option of performing deceptions with one leg or a throwing deception before dribbling, which is no longer possible if the dribble has already started. In the SPD position, the feet are parallel and the knees slightly bent, the ball is held with both hands at about chest height. The player can protect the ball well in this position because he stands low and protects the ball with his upper body.
