SSC buffer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SSC buffer (from English saline sodium citrate , salt solution sodium citrate) is a buffer that is used in biochemistry for washing and storing nucleic acids .

properties

The SSC buffer is usually made up in a 20-fold concentrated stock solution and then consists of 3 M sodium chloride and 300 mM trisodium citrate . The pH is adjusted to 7.0 with hydrochloric acid . It is used for Southern blotting , in -situ hybridization , DNA microarray and Northern blotting , among other things . The hybridization buffer that is also used is made up from the SSC buffer and the Denhardt solution .
