The SSV Blau-Weiß Gersdorf is a sports club from Gersdorf .
history
The first gymnastics club was founded on June 25, 1862, which later joined the German Gymnastics Association (DT). At first they did gymnastics on self-made equipment in the open air, only since 1912 did the club have its own sports field and since 1914 also a gym (so-called gym on Benedixstrasse) next to the sports field.
On April 25, 1877, some members of the first gymnastics club founded the gymnastics club Germania , which initially belonged to the DT, but later switched to the Arbeiter-Turn- und Sportbund . From 1905, the Germania gymnastics club had its own sports field and gym (sports hall on Turnerstrasse) on a site purchased in 1901.
After Hitler came to power in 1933, both associations were forcibly merged. In the last years of the war , the club almost came to a standstill, as the gym on Benedixstraße was used for other purposes. The gym on Turnerstrasse had already been reduced in size after 1933 by adding a few apartments.
After the end of the Second World War, a swimming division was founded on July 12, 1945. Until 1948 other groups were formed, which practiced women's handball, soccer, bowling, table tennis and gymnastics. However, it was not until July 18, 1949 that a sports club was officially re-established with the SG Gersdorf .
After the Second World War, the sports club was re-established as SG Gersdorf . On June 26, 1952, the SG Gersdorf was converted into the BSG Glückauf Gersdorf . The company sports community was supported by the Glückauf brewery , the Gersdorf concrete plant and the Gersdorf leather goods factory. In 1955, the BSG Glückauf Gersdorf was renamed BSG Einheit Gersdorf , on April 11, 1970 when the company was changed to BLK Blau-Weiß Gersdorf . Since the re-establishment in 1990, the name SSV Blau-Weiß Gersdorf has been used .
Individual sports
Fistball
The fistball section was founded on August 20, 1950. Fistball players played in the GDR league for some time as early as the 1970s and 1980s. Again they were successful from the end of the 1990s to the end of the 2000s, where the women and men played for a long time in the hall and on the field in the 2nd Bundesliga. The men's team even played for one season (hall 2004/2005) in the 1st Bundesliga.
Soccer
On January 13, 1929, the soccer division was founded in the Germania gymnastics club.
From the 1962/1963 season Gersdorf played in the district league , initially the fourth highest, but the 1963/1964 season third highest division in GDR football . In 1963 Gersdorf was vice-cup winner in the FDGB district cup after the cup final was lost to the BSG unit Reichenbach . The greatest success for the 1964/1965 season was the runner-up in the Karl-Marx-Stadt district , since Gersdorf, as the season winner East, lost the final against the season winner West, BSG Motor Brand-Langenau , with 6-0. Since in the 1972/1973 season only 15th place was reached in the district league, Gersdorf rose to the fourth-class district class. 1975/1976 was promoted back to the district league, but the footballers could not hold the class in 1976/1977 and immediately relegated. 1979 Gersdorf was again vice cup champion in the FDGB district cup after the cup final was lost to BSG progress Meerane . From 1983/1984 Gersdorf played again in the district class, where you were regular district champion until 1986/1987, but always failed because of the promotion games. From the 1987/1988 season they played again in the fourth-class district class Karl-Marx-Stadt, due to the changes after the political turnaround in 1989/1990 and the resulting changes in the football league area, the district class was graded lower and lower. Since then, Gersdorf has only played football in the lower class.
Other departments
In addition, there are or were the sections boxing, which boxed nationally and internationally, badminton, handball, athletics, where H. Steiner became champion of the east zone in pole vault in 1949 , equestrian sports, cycling, chess, swimming, table tennis, gymnastics, volleyball and winter sports . The former singing department seems rather curious.
