The SV Altenessen (officially Spielverein Altenessen 1912 eV ) was a sports club from the Essen district Altenessen . The first soccer team played for a year in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.

history

The club was founded on April 2, 1912 as Spielverein Altenessen-Nord . After the First World War , this merged with the sports club 13 Altenessen to form the game club Altenessen . In addition to soccer, there was also a volleyball department .

The footballers made it into the Ruhr district league in 1952 . Two years later, the team secured the championship and promotion to the state league , which was the highest amateur league on the Lower Rhine at the time, with one point ahead of the Essener SV 1899 . With just 2:50 points, the Altenessen team were relegated from the bottom of the table. The only victory came in the 3-2 win against Elmar Alstaden . Two years later, the game club was relegated to the district class. In 1959 he was promoted again, followed three years later by promotion to the regional league. This was only the second highest amateur league after the introduction of the Niederrhein Association League in 1956. But just like at the first attempt, the Altenessen team were relegated from the bottom of the table and suffered a 10:10 defeat at Olympia Bocholt . Subsequently, the game club no longer got beyond local leagues.

On July 1, 2006, SV Altenessen merged with DJK Schwarz-Weiß Altenessen , which was founded on April 1, 1949, to form the DJK Sportgemeinschaft Altenessen , or SG Altenessen for short . Since the late 1950s, both clubs have shared the sports field on Nordsternstrasse and later the district sports facility at Kuhlhoffstrasse.
