SV Motor Wolgast 1949

The SV Motor Wolgast 1949 e. V. is a sports club from Wolgast , which is mainly known for its judo department.

history

The BSG - Peene Werft Wolgast was founded at the end of the 1940s . Over the years, 12 sections were combined under this company sports association (BSG), including the sections table tennis , boxing , football , handball etc. In 1956, the Judo section was added, which consisted of 20 members at the time it was founded. In the GDR , the association produced athletes who fought for numerous titles in the GDR and Europe and thus made the Wolgast judo club famous. In the course of the turnaround , the former BSG was deprived of its economic basis, so that in 1990 the sports club SV Motor Wolgast 1949 eV was founded. Here the judo department continued to be headed by Arno Kroll. Also in that year the club became a full member of the Judo Association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Even after reunification, the club remained successful under the leadership of its coach. Among other things, titles were won at various national individual championships as well as at the German championships.

The founding member Arno Kroll worked as head and trainer of the judo department until his death in May 2012. In the year the association was founded, he was the first section head. Despite his advanced age (born in 1928), Arno Kroll has directed the training of the Wolgast judokas since the club was founded . He was a 7th dan .

After Arno Kroll's death, Manfred Schmidt, a long-time companion of Arno Kroll, was elected head of the Judo department during the first management meeting of the newly elected board in October 2012.

The following were elected as additional members for the new association board:

Holger Bähr (deputy), Mario Schult (trainer), Jörn Nehls (technology / public relations), Hans Jürgen Glöckner (representative: "old men"), Sylke Menzel (finances) and Oliver Suckow (public relations / website)

From 2012 to the end of 2013, M.Schmidt took care of the youngsters and, together with the board, of the association's fate. Manfred Schmidt was in charge of training for the U7 – U15. On June 9, 2012, he was awarded the 4th Dan.

The training of the U18 men / women will continue to be led by Mario Schult, who obtained his coaching license in 2012.

Sarah Pens passed her qualification as a district judge in the same year.

Now the training business was almost back to normal.

At the beginning of 2013 Andreas Helbig acquired his qualification as trainer "C" and temporarily took over the training of Mario Schult, who is still an active competitor worldwide.

On December 31, 2013, the previous trainer and department head Manfred Schmidt resigned from his position in the club and unexpectedly left the club.

His previous deputy, Holger Bähr, took over the duties of department head on January 1, 2014. Mario Schult became the new deputy

Also in January 2014, Mr. Fritz Heinz, who had previously been a trainer at SG Medizin Bansin, came to the judo club's aid and took over the training of the youngsters. For the first time in 2014 the Judo Association Wolgast was represented at the annual judo seminar in Güstrow with 2 athletes. Fritz Heinz and Oliver Suckow, together represented the Judo Club Wolgast at this event.

On May 24, 2014 the Judo Association Wolgast organized the Arno Kroll memorial tournament for the first time in memory of the long-time chairman and trainer.

Arne Burkert, having returned to the Wolgast judo club, declared himself ready to qualify as a trainer, as did Vaceslav Cagava, who wanted to become an active competitor for the club.

Arne Burkert and Vaceslav Cagava acquired their qualification as coach C at the end of 2014, and Oliver Suckow passed the examination as district referee.

On January 27th, Fritz Heinz was awarded the 3rd Dan.
