The VfB Grünhain-Beierfeld is a German football club based in the Saxon town Grünhain-Beierfeld in Erzgebirge , which in April 2012 by the merger of Grünhainer SV and SV Beierfeld emerged.

Predecessor clubs

Grünhainer SV

Under the then name BC Olympia Grünhain , the team rose for the first time in the 1914/15 season in the Gau Erzgebirge in the Westkreis Staffel within the Central German Football Championship in the VBMV . After just two seasons, this season for the club should end again due to the outbreak of the First World War .

After the end of the war, the Gau was second class for a long time until the 1923/24 season the division was first class again. At the end of this season, the club ended up in sixth place with 5:13 points. In the following seasons, the club then always placed in the midfield and was always able to save itself from relegation. After the 1927/28 season , they even took first place in the now single-track league, with which the team qualified for the finals for the Central German Championship. Before that, however, the club had to face FC Viktoria Lauter in a playoff for first place , which they then won 3: 4. In the final round, however, the team failed in the first preliminary round 9-2 at Chemnitz BC . After further positioning in the lower places, the team finally rose after the 1929/30 season with 6:22 points over the last place. For the 1932/33 season, the team rose again to the Gauliga, where the team then placed again with 2:26 points in the last place in the group. For the next season, the team was then no longer integrated into a first-class Gauliga.

SV Beierfeld

Foundation and interwar period

The association was founded in May 1911. For the 1914/15 season, the team rose to the Gau Erzgebirge in the Westkreis Staffel within the Central German Football Championship in the VBMV. At that time the club was called FC Sturm Beierfeld . However, due to the outbreak of World War I, there was only one game for the club this season. From 1921, the club then operated as SV Sturm Beierfeld due to the added athletics department . After the division was first class again in the 1923/24 season, the club was able to finish the season in third place with 11: 7 points. After the 1932/33 season, the qualification for the finals for the Central German Championship was finally achieved in second place due to the 2: 3 win in the decider against the first placed SC Waldhaus Lauter and the 9:12 victory in the Gau final over DSC Weipert . Already in the first round it was over after an 8-0 win at VfB Glauchau . After the National Socialists came to power , the club was not accepted into one of the first-class Gauligen for the next season.

For the 1935/36 season, the team then rose to the national class. After the outbreak of World War II, gaming operations came to a standstill for the time being.

post war period

After the war, the club then joined the SV Wismut . It was not until 1957 that a district championship title and promotion to the district league succeeded again. In 1974 the first team was relegated to the second district class, and only in 1979 did they get up again, but this class could only be held for two more seasons.

time

After German reunification, the discontinuation of the former company Meßgeräte Beierfeld resulted in financial difficulties for a number of years, but gaming operations could always be maintained. After the 2000/01 season, the first team succeeded again in promotion to the district league.

history

After the merger of the communities Grünhain and Beierfeld in 2005, the merger of Grünhainer SV and SV Beierfeld followed on April 17, 2012. The headquarters of the new association is in the Beierfeld district. In the 2012/13 season, the merged club then appeared for the first time in the Kreisliga Mitte - Erzgebirge . The season ended with 31 points in 10th place. For the next season, the club then moved to the Kreisliga West and finished the season there with 23 points in 13th place. Thus, due to the better goal difference on the bottom of the table SV Lindenau with 23 points, they could only just prevent relegation. After the 2014/15 season, the league was again just under 31 points. Due to the four relegation places in the league comprising only 14 teams, this corresponded to the first non-relegation place. In the following seasons, higher placements in the division are achieved again. The club still plays in this league to this day.
