さ , in Hiragana , or サ in Katakana , are Japanese characters of the Kana system , both of which represent a Mora . In modern Japanese alphabetical sorting , they are ranked 11th. The さ is also the 37th letter in the Iroha , directly after the あ and before き . The form of both kana is derived from the kanji 左 and 散 and both represent [sa] .
