The Saab Aero-X is a car study presented by Saab in 2006 . The Saab designers in Anthony Lo's team developed some new concepts with this vehicle.
The Aero-X is a two-door coupé with an upper part that can be folded up and contains the roof, windshield and doors (the so-called canopy). There is no need for an A-pillar, which allows a particularly clear panoramic view from the vehicle. The body is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic , the chassis is electronically controlled. The instrument panel looks three-dimensional thanks to the plexiglass elements presented . The daytime running lights are bluish and should indicate ice in the Scandinavian winter.
It is powered by a 2.8-liter V6 engine with twin turbocharger via a seven-speed gearbox with paddle shifters; the engine is designed for operation with 100% ethanol. The output is 400 PS (294 kW), so it accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.9 s. The vehicle is limited to a top speed of 250 km / h.
Some elements of the study found their way into series production with the Saab 9-5 generation produced from 2010.
