Saadet İkesus Altan
Saadet İkesus Altan (born March 3, 1916 in Ankara ; † December 12, 2007 ibid) was a Turkish opera singer ( soprano ) and the first female opera director in Turkey.
Life
According to the Istanbul State Opera, Altan has made great contributions to the development of Turkish opera. She trained as an opera singer in Germany at the Berlin Music Academy. For a while she worked at the Duisburg Opera. Then she was invited by Carl Ebert in 1941 to work at the Ankara Conservatory.
Altan also wrote a novel in Turkish called Karaböcek .
