In addition to football , the club also operates the handball , gymnastics , volleyball , table tennis , sports badges , running , walking and cultural section, the singing department

The club gained national fame through its soccer team, which played in the then third-class 1st amateur league in the 1975/76 season . Today, after relegation to the district league , the team plays in the Württemberg Association League .

history

The Sports and Culture Association Rutesheim 1945 eV was founded on September 30, 1945 and became the legal successor to the Free Sports Association (founded on July 17, 1920) , which was dissolved by the National Socialists in 1933 . The biggest success so far was achieved by the footballers of SKV Rutesheim with promotion to the then third-class amateur league Nordwürttemberg in 1976. As a newcomer, however, the club rose in the following season as bottom of the table with only 10:50 points and 23:66 goals.

After the 1st team stayed in the Württemberg state league until 1989 , they were relegated to the district league. It was not until 2001 that the team won the championship in the district league A and thus promotion to the district league Enz / Murr. After only four years in the district league, in 2005 they made it to the regional league season 1 under coach Christian Hofberger . In the first year they achieved a good 9th place. Coach Christian Hofberger then moved to the upper division VfL Kirchheim / Teck . The new coach came Lothar Mattner, who reached 2nd place with the team in their debut year. Thus, the SKV qualified for the promotion relegation, in which they drew the short straw against 1. FC Frickenhausen. In the following year, the 2007/08 season, the success from the previous year was topped. They became sovereign champions of the state league and thus rose directly to the Württemberg Association League . In the first year of 2008/09 under coach Lothar Mattner, a respectable 10th place was achieved. The coach Mattner then moved to the top division 1. FC Normannia Gmünd . Successor was Wolfgang Lamitschka, who came from GSV Maichingen . After Lamitschka resigned after half a year, Christian Hofberger was again a coach. In the second league year it was only enough for 12th place, which meant relegation to relegation. Here they lost on June 20, 2010 in the relegation game in the Leiselstadion in Marbach am Neckar against the national league champions TSV Münchingen with 0: 1. On June 28, 2010, the Württemberg Football Association announced that the league relegated TSV Crailsheim had withdrawn its team and Rutesheim would instead remain in the association league.

In the 2010/11 season, the team was 14th and was relegated. Coach Christian Hofberger then resigned. Long-time team captain Rolf Kramer took over his position. Under Kramer, the team was always represented in the top group of the Landesliga Württemberg and in the 2015/16 season, after a previous victory against TSV Bad Boll, was only subject to SV Zimmer in the second round of the promotion relegation. In the following season the team took second place again and this time, after a win against FV Rot Weiß Weiler in the first relegation round and a memorable 7: 1 win over 1. FC Heiningen, they made it to the Württemberg Association League. In the debut season 2017/18, SKV Rutesheim reached the relegation place with 13th place in the table and thus secured relegation.

In the following season 2018/19, the team of coach Rolf Kramer exceeded all expectations and ended the season on a sensational 3rd place in the table. With an average age of only around 23 years, the very young team, consisting mainly of players trained at SKV Rutesheim, even took part in the race for promotion to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg until the last match day.

After the 2019/20 season was canceled prematurely as a result of the outbreak of the corona pandemic, SKV Rutesheim will also play in the Württemberg Association League in the 2020/21 season. After 20 matchdays, coach Jens Eng's team was in 6th place in the table.
