Basic seed label

The Seed Traffic Act (SaatG) regulates the "placing on the market" of seeds and propagation material and thus regulates the possibilities of agriculture and horticulture. The Bundessortenamt is responsible . The law is implemented in the Seed Ordinance, among other things .

Seed categories

A distinction is made between the following seed categories:

  • Behelfssaatgut must (according to §14 saatverkg) be dimensionally genuine;
  • Pre-basic seed of advance gege Henden to basic seed generation comes;
  • Basic seed of the breeder (preliminary stage for certified seed), it must also be recognized prior to sale;
  • Certified seed is entered in the variety lists, officially checked (field inspection) and recognized before sale ( certificate and seal ).
