Sabarmati ashram
The Sabarmati Ashram ( Gujarati સાબરમતી આશ્રમ , also called Harijan Ashram ) is located in India , in the northwest of the city of Ahmedabad , the then capital of Gujarat on the Sabarmati River .
Here lived Mahatma Gandhi (Honorary Name: Mahatma Gandhi) from 1918 to 1930 and directed the non-violent resistance " Satyagraha " against the British occupation. Many national and international personalities came here to meet Gandhi.
His former home has been converted into the Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalay Museum. In Gandhi's room you can see his spinning wheel, the "Satyagraha tablet" and other utensils.
There is also an extensive library, a picture gallery and the illustrated life story of the pacifist statesman.
