Sabawi Ibrahim at-Tikriti

Sabawi Ibrahim at-Tikriti ( Arabic سبعاوي إبراهيم التكريتي, DMG Sabʿāwī Ibrāhīm at-Tikrītī ; * 1947 in Tikrit ; † July 8, 2013 in Baghdad ) was a half-brother of Saddam Hussein . He was the head of the Iraqi secret service , the Mukhabarat , during the First Gulf War in 1991. From 1991 to 1996 he headed the Security Council and later served as Saddam Hussein's security advisor.

On February 27, 2005, when his arrest was announced, he was ranked sixth in the card game of Most Wanted Iraqis and number 36 on the list of 55 Most Wanted Iraqi Terrorists .

He was accused of arranging bombings and murders after the collapse of the Saddam regime. A $ 1 million reward was offered for clues leading to his arrest or death .

After his capture, Syria extradited him to the Iraqi armed forces , which handed him over to the American army. In March 2009 he was sentenced to death by an Iraqi court , but not executed . In July 2013 he died of complications from cancer in a Baghdad prison .

His son Syhman Sabawi Ibrahim was captured and imprisoned by the US military in 2005. He managed to escape from a northern Iraqi prison on December 9, 2006.
