The Sabinyo (also Sabyinyo , Sabinio ) is an extinct volcano at the eastern end of the Virunga volcanic chain . The mountain lies in the triangle between Rwanda , Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo . The Volcano National Park stretches on the Rwandan side, the Virunga National Park on the Congolese side and the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park on the Ugandan side .
The three national parks are known for the mountain gorillas that live here . On the slopes of the Sabinyo there lives a gorilla family that has become particularly well used to tourists and to which small groups of visitors are regularly taken. It is called "Sabinyo" after its mountain and is headed by the 35-year-old Guhonda . It is considered to be the largest living silverback among the mountain gorillas.
