Sabugueiro is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Arraiolos . 397 inhabitants lived in the community (as of June 30, 2011).

history

The place is older, but it only became an independent municipality in the 16th century.

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Sabugueiro and Gafanhoeira (São Pedro) were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Gafanhoeira (São Pedro) e Sabugueiro .

The mannerist parish church Igreja de Santa Clara do Sabugueiro dates from the 16th century. It holds u. a. Azulejo cladding and is a listed building.
