São Pedro de Gafanhoeira (administratively also Gafanhoeira (São Pedro) ) is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Arraiolos . 495 inhabitants lived in the municipality (as of June 30, 2011).

history

The place is older, but it only became an independent municipality in the 16th century.

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Gafanhoeira (São Pedro) and Sabugueiro were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Gafanhoeira (São Pedro) e Sabugueiro . Gafanhoeira (São Pedro) is the seat of this newly formed community.

Attractions

With the parish church and the chapel Capela de Nossa Senhora das Necessidades from the early 16th century, two of the parish's sacred buildings are listed. The single-nave parish church Igreja de São Pedro , built at the end of the 16th century, shows Gothic and Mannerist elements.
