Sacca Misericordia

As sacche (singular Sacca ) in Venice both the artificially created islands , of which there are currently three, are referred to, as well as the outskirts of the city and an indentation of the lagoon in the city.

The three islands are called Sacca Fisola , Sacca San Biagio and Sacca Sessola , the gain on land Sacca di San Girólamo and Sacca di San Alvise , the indentation to the north of the town of Sacca della Misericordia . At the beginning of the 20th century there was still a Sacca di Santa Chiara , a port basin with warehouses near the freight port.

The island of Murano actually consists of seven (sub) islands. Two of them are also Sacche, namely Sacca Serenella (in the west) and Sacca Mattia (in the north).
