Sacerdotalis caelibatus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sacerdotalis Caelibatus is the title of the sixth encyclical of Pope Paul VI. dated June 24, 1967. It bears the subtitle on the celibacy of priests . Paul VI had withdrawn the question of celibacy , i.e. the celibacy of priests , from discussion at the Second Vatican Council . Instead, he decided that celibacy should be maintained as a church regulation. The encyclical explores the problem very deeply.
