Keyword

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term keyword can mean two things:

  • as a translation of “nomen substantivum” it stands for noun ; this use of the term apparently rarely occurs;
  • a noun that stands for technical terms or material objects, as opposed to proper names . In this sense, the word is mainly used in the term subject dictionary ; a well-known example of this is Wilpert's literary dictionary (2001).

Use of keyword

The term subject word apparently no longer appears as an independent keyword even in extensive dictionaries. It is missing in Duden , for example . German Universal Dictionary (2007) and Wahrig (2008). But even linguistic specialist dictionaries such as Bußmann (2005) and Glück (2005) do not mention the word. However , it is still common as a component of word compositions such as subject index and subject index .
