Hadumod Bussmann

Hadumod Bußmann (born June 5, 1933 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German linguist .

Life

After graduating from the Schillerschule in Frankfurt in 1953 , Hadumod Bußmann was assistant editor in the theater department of the Fischer publishing house from 1954 to 1961 . She studied German , Romance languages and art history at the Universities of Frankfurt am Main and Munich . During her studies Bußmann spent a long time in London and Paris. From 1963 she was a research assistant at the Institute for German Philology at the University of Munich. In 1967 Hadumod Bußmann received his doctorate in Medieval Studies with a dissertation on Eilhart von Obergs Tristrant . From 1971 to 1997 she taught German linguistics at the University of Munich, where she was also the women's representative and spokesperson for the state conference of university women's representatives in Bavaria since 1990.

Since her retirement, Hadumod Bußmann has worked as a freelance writer and journalist in the fields of the history of science of women and gender and language . She is also the curator of the Therese von Bayern Foundation, a program to promote women in science.
