Saclateni , Bayer name Zeta Aurigae , is a star in the constellation Fuhrmann . Saclateni is an eclipsing star whose brightness fluctuates between + 3.61 mag and + 3.99 mag with a period of 972 days.
The main star is a red supergiant , the companion belongs to the spectral class B8. The radius ratio is remarkable. The K-star has around 200 R☉ at 22 M☉, the B-star 10 R☉ at 10 M☉. The smaller B star shines through the vast atmosphere of the K star in the ascending and descending branch of the occultation, but this phase only lasts 0.8 days. (Chapman 1981)
Saclateni is about 780 light years from Earth (Hipparcos database). Other names: Azaleh, Haedus, Sadatoni ("two young goats").
