Safak Akcay

Safak Akcay (born May 29, 1974 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and accountant . She has been a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council since 2013 .

education and profession

Akcay attended the commercial academy between September 1989 and September 1990, but then switched directly to the commercial school, which she graduated in September 1993. As a result, she joined U. Riha & G. Steiner Steuerberatungs-GmbH in September 1993, where she worked as an accountant until 2003. She has been working in this company as a payroll processor since 2003.

Politics and functions

Akcay became active in the SPÖ-Leopoldstadt in 1996 and was subsequently committed to the issues of integration, culture, women and freedom fighters. She subsequently took on the role of deputy section head and became deputy chair of the “I2” integration initiative. In addition, she became active as a treasurer and member of the district organizational board. After the district representative election in Vienna in 2001 , she was sworn in as district councilor for the SPÖ-Leopoldstadt in May 2001, where she was subsequently active in the social commission, the culture commission and the environmental committee. After Nurten Yılmaz moved to the National Council, Akcay was sworn in on November 13, 2013 as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and as a councilor.

Private

Akcay is married and has one daughter.
