Saga is an American space opera / fantasy comics series by Brian K. Vaughan (script) and Fiona Staples (drawings). The series has been published monthly by Image Comics since March 2012 .

The series is heavily influenced by Star Wars and Vaughan's impressions as a child and father. It is about a pair of lovers, Alana and Marko, who flee from the captors of their two rival states against the backdrop of a galactic war with their newborn daughter Hazel. Described by the creators as “ Star Wars meets Game of Thrones ”, “Saga” evokes themes and impressions from science fiction and fantasy epics like “ The Lord of the Rings ” and classic dramas like “ Romeo and Juliet ” in the eye of criticism . In 2013 the series won the British Fantasy Award .

Both the first edition (the first two editions of which sold out quickly) and the subsequent editions were unanimously praised by American critics, namely for the sensitivity of the main characters and the surrealistic background, the timely political undertones of the framework, and the excellent graphic representation of the genre-typical backgrounds as well as the facial expressions of the characters.
