Saga (singer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saga (* 1975 ) is a Swedish singer in international right-wing rock . She became particularly popular as a tribute singer to Ian Stuart and Skrewdriver and is considered the model lady of the Swedish white power movement.

Life

Saga was involved in the right-wing to right-wing extremist scene from early youth, which she attributes to traumatic experiences in her youth that she had with immigrants . She began as a background singer for the white power band Pluton Svea , with whom she recorded the album 88% Unplugged (the 88 stands for " Heil Hitler " in neo-Nazi jargon ). Sweden's largest right-wing rock label Midgård Records signed her and brought her together with the Nazi death metal band Triskelon, who jointly founded the Symphony of Sorrow project . The first album Paradise Lost was released in 1999 via Midgård Records. In 2005 the collaboration with the album Symphony of Hatred was continued.

However, she made a name for herself in the right-wing rock scene with three tribute albums with cover versions of the late singer Ian Stuart Donaldson and his band Skrewdriver. Of this series, published under the title My Tribute to Skrewdriver , three editions have appeared so far, two of which were released in 2000 and one in 2002 via Midgård Records. Their material differs significantly from the originals, as they dispense with both the punk and metal passages and are performed with acoustic guitar and a calm tone. She also released albums with her own material. In 2007 the album On My Own was released with piano ballads.

Its status in the international right-wing rock scene is high. She appeared as headliner at various right-wing rock festivals, for example at the Maygar Sziget, a parallel event to Sziget in Budapest, in 2011. In 2000 she was on the cover of the American right-wing rock fanzine Resistance by Resistance Records . Her albums are among the best-selling white power productions in Sweden. The scene also markets its good looks and its softer style of music to give the White Power movement a more human face. It should appeal to a more mainstream-oriented target audience in order to appeal to other buyer groups. However, their lyrics remain as radical as in the original and their own songs are nationalistic to Nazi.

The mass murderer Anders Breivik mentioned Saga as a source of ideas in his 1000-page manifesto with which he tried to justify the 2011 attacks in Norway . Among other things, he quoted twelve songs from her. Saga distanced itself after Breivik became known.

In Germany, three of her albums are indexed by the Federal Testing Office for Media Harmful to Young People (BPjM) .
